Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency media expert, that the attack occurred around 10:00 p.m. on February 20, when the assailants quietly infiltrated the residence of the Council Secretary, located near the riverbank in Sarkin Pawa, an area frequently targeted by criminal elements.
The victims include: Daina Usman (Council Secretary), Deborah Daina (his wife), Sati Daina, Gambo Shagari, and Sorro (also known as Snu).
The sources said that the bandits immediately fled with the hostages into Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, a known escape route for criminal groups operating in the region.
Upon receiving a distress call from the local vigilante, security operatives swiftly mobilized a joint task force comprising military personnel from Forward Operating Base (FOB) Sarkin Pawa, Niger State Police Tactical Teams, and local vigilante groups to pursue the bandits.
The security forces have since launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation to track down the kidnappers and ensure the safe return of the victims.
