Court adjourns corruption suit against Amaechi to July 12

Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has adjourned till July 12 a case brought before it by the state government accusing the former governor of the state, Rotimi Amaechi, and six others of corruption.

Amaechi, who is also a former transportation minister, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Party (APC), Tonye Cole, Chamberlain Peterside, Augustine Wokocha, Sahara Energy Resources Ltd, NG powers Ltd, are facing nine counts of stealing, conspiracy, and cheating.

When the matter came up in court, yesterday, the presiding judge, Justice David Gbasan, granted the prosecution leave to serve the defendants by a substituted means through a national daily newspaper before adjourning till July 12, 2022, for a plea.
