Court stops Reps from probing Bauchi Assembly crisis
A Bauchi High Court has stopped the House of Representatives from investigating and submitting the report of the ad hoc committee set up by Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila to look into the leadership crisis besetting the state House of Assembly.
The interim injunction yesterday by Justice Muazu Abubakar followed a suit, BA/298M/2019, instituted by the Assembly speaker, Abubakar Suleiman, his deputy, Danlami Kawule, and 13 others.
The presiding judge ordered all parties in the suit to maintain status quo pending determination of the motion on notice.
He subsequently fixed October 3 for hearing of the case.
The respondents are the House of Representatives, Gbajabiamila and 18 others.
Lead counsel to the applicants, Jibrin S. Jibrin, said his clients are of the belief that the panel would not do justice to the matter, hence they approached the court for redress.
