Cross River: Fire razes 10 shops in Ogoja

Over 10 shops and businesses worth millions of naira were, on Friday, destroyed by fire in Ogoja Local Council of Cross River State.

The Guardian learnt the sad incident was allegedly caused by a generating set at No. 29 Mission Road, Igoli-Ogoja.

One of the victims, who owned an electrical and solar panel store, Mr. Felix Orim, said he received a call at midnight and when he got there, yesterday morning, everything was razed.

The Council Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Ishabor confirmed the incident, saying: “I have been there this morning to see for myself. We got information last night and it is true. Information we got was that the fire was caused by a generating set. Further investigation will be done to ascertain the information. For compensation, we will work with other agencies to see what can be done.”
