Operatives of  Cross River State Police Command have arrested a  notorious kidnap kingpin, Kufre Ekpo Etim, alias Romance,  who has been on the state government and police wanted list for about three years.

He was arrested by Mr. Ogini Chukwuma-led Anti Cultism and Kidnapping Squad (ACKS), of Cross River State, late on Tuesday in a hideout near University of Cross River in Calabar, after a gun duel that left him seriously injured, but his gang members escaped by the whiskers.

Etim has been terrorising Calabar metropolis and its environs and some parts of  Akwa Ibom  for quite some time now before he met his waterloo.

The kidnap kingpin and an armed robber, who has killed scores and  kidnapped dozens of medical doctors and  lecturers, especially from University of Calabar and others were arrested based on credible intelligence by the ACKS that swung into action immediately.

The Cross River State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sule Balarabe, who confirmed the arrest, said that it was a big win for the police, the  government and the good people of the state.

He said: “The notorious kidnap kingpin has been terrorising Cross River and parts of  neighbouring states for years, we are glad that he has been apprehended, he has been on the wanted list for three years and we finally picked him up.”
