In the drive for safety-consciousness, the Group Managing Director of Dangote Cement Plc, Arvind Pathak, has urged the company’s drivers to always make safety their foremost priority, warning that “no delivery is worth a life.”
Speaking during the company’s 2026 Drivers’ Safety Retreat for Ibese Plant drivers, held at Ibese in Ogun State, Pathak stressed that while drivers remain critical to the success of Dangote Cement’s nationwide distribution network, their well-being and safe return after every journey matter even more.
Pathak, speaking on the theme, “Think Safety, Act Safely,” reminded participants that they represent the brand on the highways and are responsible for extending that duty beyond transporting the product.
Nevertheless, he assured that the company would continue to invest in initiatives that support drivers’ welfare, capacity development and safer transport operations, noting that drivers remain indispensable partners in its growth journey.
He urged the drivers to avoid over-speeding, driving with fatigue and other unsafe practices, stressing that professionalism is measured not by how quickly a journey is completed but by how safely it was undertaken.
In his goodwill message, the Aboro of Ibeseland, Oba Rotimi Mulero, urged drivers to prioritise rest whenever they feel fatigue, reminding them that their families depend on their safe return after every journey.
Also, the Head of Transport, Murilo Silva, warned that reckless driving, proxy driving and other unsafe transport practices would not be tolerated. He urged drivers to take personal responsibility for their safety and to contribute to making Nigerian roads safer for all users.
