All is now set for the 6th edition of West Africa’s largest event for agribusiness networking – Agrikexpo and NABG (Nigeria Agri-Business Group) conferences, which will focus on showcasing opportunities in the 36 states of Nigeria for agro-food investments to a premium gathering of potential investors.

Alhaji Aliko Dangote, who himself is one of the leading investors in agro-food sector in the world, will open the event, which is a private sector led initiative.

In his words, all hands must be on deck for national food security, job creation and youth development via productive agricultural activity. Other distinguished dignitaries are, the Hon Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh; Hon Minister of Trade Investments, Dr Okey Enelamnah and other agrofood industry captains.

According to Emmanuel Ijewere, vice president NABG, “we are proud to invite all stakeholders to the event, particularly the various State Investment Development agencies, for showcase of opportunities, meaningful networking with potential investors, and participation in plenary discussions for economic development benefits.”

He also called on banks and financial institutions to seek interface with the agribusiness entrepreneurs under one roof. Recall that NABG is umbrella body for agribusinesses in Nigeria and has been at theforefront of mobilizing agribusinesses in Nigeria into a common action front for agricultural development.

The conferences will feature high level speakers and top government representatives over 3 days of active business-to-business interactions in support of the Agricultural Promotion Policy.

According to Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, chairman of the organizing company, it is quite commendable that Government has sustained the focus on Agricultural productivity via the Green Alternative because for now, agriculture is clearly the way to go.He called for more inclusiveness of women and youths, even in the rural areas via capacity development programmes.

One of the major highlights of the event will be the presentation of the youth quarterly THE AGRILLOANIRES which seeks to celebrate successes in agro-food business as a tool to attracting younger people to careers and own business startup in the sector.

The promotion of youths in Agribusiness via the programme Yesaa-youth entrepreneurship Summit for Agribusiness Advancement, will be facilitated by instructors from IITA, and is quite commendable, considering the ageing population of farmers in Nigeria and smarter modes of agricultural practice in the world.

According to Project Manager of event, Mr. Ugo Psalmuel Nwabisi, the event is coming at a time when West Africa is promoting supports for intra regional trade, including, but not limited, to improved bilateral relations with the rest of the world. There are several seminars focused on Poultry, Seeds & Horticulture, Tractorization, processing & packaging for Exports, and Agroochemicals while section will deal exclusively with food & beverage products.
