Delta police nab man for allegedly killing son for ritual
Delta State police Command has arrested 33-year-old Volt Blessing Gabriel for allegedly killing his son, Godspower Gabriel, for ritual.
Spokesperson for the Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Bright Edafe, who confirmed the arrest said, the suspect reportedly killed his 20-month-old son at Ewabogun bush by Catholic road, Benin city, Edo State.
Edafe said he murdered the child, using hand saw to cut off the head and buried it by a palm tree in the bush and threw away the headless body.
According to him, the suspect’s wife, one Mrs. Success Oduwa of Peanuts Junction, Obeh in Edo State had reported to the Commander, Quick Response Squad, that her son was missing since morning of June 24, 2022 and started troubling her husband as to the whereabouts of the child.
The husband told her that the child is with his sister in Warri, but on getting to Warri, she discovered the husband was lying to her, hence her suspicion.
Following the report, the Commander RRS detailed operatives, who swung into action, arrested the husband and handed him over to the DPO ‘A’ Division Warri for further investigation.
The suspect who is in custody, however, said he killed the child, because of a dream he had, where he saw a man who told him that, if he kills the child, and uses the child’s blood to rub his head, he will become rich.
Edafe also said operatives of the Dragon Patrol team arrested three suspected armed robbers, while on stop and search duty along Eku – Abraka road in Ethiope East Local Council of Delta State.
He gave the names of those arrested as Jeffrey Osemudiamen ‘m’ , 36 of NO. 28 Osazuwa Street, Benin City; Eddy Gabriel, ‘m’, 33 and Promise Imade ‘m’ 31, both of NO. 14 Paris Street, Oghara in Ethiope West Local Council of the state.
