The Delta State Government has reiterated its support for the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) scheme.
Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chiedu Ebie, gave the reassurance yesterday in Asaba during the presentation of the NYSC Delta State Honours Awards to two outstanding corps members for distinguishing them during the 2018 service year.
Ebie, who doubles as Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board, in a statement by his Public Relations Officer, Mr. Oghenero Orovwuje, stated that the importance of the scheme could not be overemphasized, as it had helped in unifying the country through cultural integration.
According to the SSG, “we are assuring the NYSC management that the state government would ensure that corps members posted to the state are well catered for. Already, the state had provided facilities for the South South Zonal NYSC Area office located in Asaba and also at the Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku.”
He congratulated the recipients, urging them to see the awards as a challenge to work harder while encouraging other corps members serving in the state to emulate the exemplary character of the beneficiaries.
The recipients are Dr. Udo-Ubong Nkereuwem and Mr. Igbato Domnic. Earlier, the Area Coordinator of the NYSC South-South Area Office, Mr. Omotade Ayodele, thanked the state government for its continued support, pledging that the objectives of the scheme would not be compromised.
