Delta traditional rulers task FG on ongoing rail project
Delta State Traditional Rulers (DSTR) have urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts in the ongoing rail project, especially the one connecting the state to other parts of the country.
Chairman of the DSTR, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor 11, who made the call while speaking at the meeting of the council held in Asaba, equally reminded host communities to protect government projects from vandals.
While warning that communities would be held responsible for the destruction of projects that are sited in their areas, he stressed the need for stakeholders to synergise with government to bring such projects to fruition.
The traditional ruler of Owa Kingdom also urged communities hosting developmental projects across the state to provide a conductive environment for contractors to execute such projects without hindrance.
While calling for rapid development and reduce security challenges, especially the worsening security challenges in some parts of the state, he assured that on completion of the projects, they would impact on people’s social political wellbeing.
He urged elected and appointed indigenes of the Niger Delta, at all levels of government to work together to ensure the early completion of all projects in the region.
While calling on the Federal Government to take the advice seriously, he advised Deltans to partner security agencies, especially during the forthcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations.
