DHQ names Chris Agundu as Operation Safe Haven new commander
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin, has approved the appointment of Maj.-Gen. Augustine Chris Agundu as the new Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Jos.
A statement signed late on Monday in Abuja by Acting Director, Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. John Agim, said Agundu would take over with immediate effect from Maj.-Gen. Anthony Atolagbe who had been redeployed to the Defence Headquarters and appointed as Director of Campaign Planning.
According to the statement, the redeployment was to reinvigorate the military operation to meet contemporary challenges.
The statement reads: “The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin, has approved the appointment of Maj.-Gen. Augustine Chris Chukwudi Agundu as the Commander, Operation Safe Haven.
“He is to take over with immediate effect from Maj.-Gen. Anthony Atolagbe who has been redeployed to Defence Headquarters and appointed Director of Campaign Planning.”
