The Founder of the Folio Media Group and Publisher of Daily Times Nigeria, Mr. Fidelis Anosike, has pledged a donation of N100 million toward the completion of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council multipurpose hall project.

Anosike who made the pledge on Monday at the FCT NUJ chapter Secretariat as part of activities to mark the centenary celebration of the DTN.

Anosike described the milestone as a defining moment not only for the organisation but also for the broader Nigerian journalism ecosystem adding that the centenary reflects a century of resilience, public service, and nation-building through credible reporting.

According to him, the Daily Times has endured major political transitions, economic downturns, and rapid technological disruptions, yet remains anchored on its founding principles of truth and public accountability.

He noted that the newspaper continues to symbolise the influence of journalism in shaping national discourse and giving voice to ordinary Nigerians.

“Daily Times has been part of Nigeria’s story for 100 years. The institution helped shape public discourse, supported national development and gave voice to millions of Nigerians. Preserving that legacy is a responsibility we take seriously,” Anosike said.

He added that when the current management assumed control of the organisation, it did so with full awareness of the challenges involved in reviving a historic media brand, but remained confident that the future of journalism lies in credibility and public trust.

Also speaking at the event, Chairperson of the Nigeria Union of Journalists FCT Council, Grace Ike, described the Daily Times as one of the foundational pillars of modern journalism in Nigeria.

She said the newspaper’s contributions to the country’s political, economic, and social development remain indelible.

Ike noted that generations of journalists drew inspiration from the professional standards once associated with the publication, stressing that journalism remains central to democracy because it amplifies citizens’ voices and holds leaders accountable.

She also expressed appreciation to the publisher for his pledge toward the completion of the NUJ Congress hall project, urging journalists to uphold ethical standards and professionalism despite the pressures of the evolving digital media landscape.
