The Ebonyi South Youth Assembly has berated the former Special Assistant Emma Igwe over his comment on administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru on abandoned and uncompleted projects describing his claims as misleading and lacking factual basis.

Emma Igwe had in his Facebook page titled “Non-Completion of Projects: Is Ebonyi State Above the Mental Capacity of Nwifuru, or Who Takes the Money?”claimed that Ebonyi state government under Francis Nwifuru has done nothing with abandoned projects everywhere.

But the group, in a statement signed by its National President, Comrade Odii Njoku, accused the author of attempting to misinform the public and tarnish the image of the state government.

The youth body challenged Igwe to seek information on the administration’s achievements from his wife, whom it alleged is a major stakeholder in the present government and serves as the General Manager of EBOTRANS.

According to the group, “Your answer to your question lies with your wife, who is a major stakeholder in Governor Nwifuru’s administration. She is in a better position to explain the achievements recorded by the government, particularly in EBOTRANS.”

The group also questioned Igwe’s record while serving as a Special Assistant for eight years, asking what impact he made on the lives of the people of Ezzanga Community during his time in office.

The youths argued that rather than criticising the governor, Igwe should acknowledge what they described as the administration’s numerous achievements in infrastructure, education and human capital development.

They listed some projects, including the University of ICT, the University of Aeronautics, the housing project in Ishielu Local Government Area,Ebonyi industrial cluster  and several inherited projects that the present administration has continued, as evidence of Governor Nwifuru’s commitment to the development of Ebonyi State.

“Nwifuru paid backlog arrears of over eight hundred million naira to staff of Ebonyi state University, he equally paid gratuity to both state and local government retired workers which runs into billions of naira. He has digitalize the teaching and learning process in all the secondary schools in the state” Odii stated.

What about those on scholarship in various universities across the world, what about the internal road constructed by Nwifuru government, what about the 14 general hospitals which have been equip, the projects are numerous Odii added.

The statement further defended the ongoing Vanco Flyover project, saying its completion would not only decongest traffic in Abakaliki but also enhance the beauty of the state capital and stimulate economic growth.

The youth group maintained that Governor Nwifuru’s administration had also sustained peace and political stability across the state, creating an enabling environment for investors and economic development.

It urged residents of Ebonyi State to disregard what it described as Emma Igwe’s “misleading narratives and fake documentary,” insisting that the administration had recorded remarkable progress through completed and ongoing projects across different sectors.

The group added that Governor Nwifuru had demonstrated commitment to governance by continuing and completing several projects inherited from previous administrations instead of abandoning them.

The youths called on citizens to judge the government based on visible projects and measurable achievements rather than what they described as politically motivated criticisms aimed at discrediting the administration.
