Edo film festival winners for entrepreneurship training

GIZ Skills Development for Youth Employment (SKYE) is offering entrepreneurship training to winners in the just-concluded Edo State International Film Festival.

Speaking on the programme, the Head of Programme, Tobias Wolfgarten, said the four winners were rewarded with N50,000, N75,000, N100,000 and N150,000.

Edo State International Film Festival was sponsored by Swiss Agency for Development Corporation and the German Government (BMZ).

With over 1,500 films from 94 countries, 200 movie screenings, elevating master classes and training, Edo State International Film Festival 2022 closed with an award ceremony at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, Benin City.

The festival was hosted by the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, and Managing Director, Edo State Skills Development Agency (EDOJOBS), Mrs. Ukinebo Dare, in partnership with Swiss Agency for Development Corporation and BMZ through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) SKYE Programme.

Anchored by actors, Rex Nosa and Linda Osifo, the award ceremony marked the finale of the four-day festival.

Opening the event, Convener and Co-Chairman of the Edo State International Film Festival 2022, Ukinebo Dare, appreciated the partners and guests for “a fantastic event”.

“We would like to invite filmmakers, and producers to employ the services of the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub. We have world-class equipment that you need here to help you produce the best quality films,” she stated.

Film entries were assessed by a panel, with winners from 15 categories emerging.

Obaseki awarded $10,000, $5,000 and $5,000 respectively to ‘Best Feature Film (overall)’, ‘Best Film Shot in Edo’ and ‘Best Indigenous Film’.
