Disturbed by the gruesome killing of innocent hunters in Uromi, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has extended condolences to the Kano State Government over the heinous act.

Besides, Governor Okpebholo also assured his Kano State counterpart of his commitment to thoroughly investigate and bring the perpetrators of the murder to book.

Senator Okpebholo gave the assurance in a telephone conversation with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, where he equally guaranteed that all necessary measures had already been initiated to compensate the families of the victims.

Governor Yusuf, who revealed the development during a state broadcast on Sunday at Government House, appealed to Kano residents to remain calm and resist any provocation, just as he assured that justice would prevail on the matter.

Yusuf regretted the brutal murder of Kano State indigenes who were in transit from Rivers State to Kano for Sallah. He intimated that a high-powered delegation had been set up to meet with the Hausa community in Edo State and the government of the state to address the incident.

The Governor took the special broadcast to admonish residents to embrace the spirit of forgiveness and reconciliation in their daily affairs and cultivate the principles of love, unity, and compassion as exemplified in the Month of Ramadan.

On the occasion of Sallah, the Governor congratulated Muslims in Kano and across the globe on the successful completion of the fast and urged Muslims to sustain the lessons of brotherliness, generosity, and kindness to all humans.

“As we celebrate this joyous occasion, I wish to take this opportunity to urge all of us to hold fast to the lessons of Ramadan. Let us continue to demonstrate love, kindness, and unity in our daily interactions. The spirit of sacrifice and selflessness should be our guide.

“Let us continue with the strength and bond of brotherhood and harmony in our community. As your government, our administration is committed to its unwavering measures that will bring relief and improve social welfare and infrastructural development across the state.

“Furthermore, the peaceful co-existence between diverse ethnic groups in Kano remains a priority. I appeal for your support to continue fostering an atmosphere of peace, tolerance, and mutual respect for one another. Our strength lies in unity, and we must continue to embrace one another despite our differences.

“Let forgiveness and reconciliation be our guiding principles in our daily interactions. By doing so, we will continue to create a prosperous society for all of us. Let me condole with Kano State citizens over what happened in Edo State, where our sons were brutally murdered by some miscreants.

“This government will not leave any stone unturned in fishing out the perpetrators of this heinous crime and bringing them to book. A high-powered delegation has been constituted to depart for Edo State to meet with the government of Edo and the Hausa community to ensure justice.

“Edo State Governor has called me to extend condolences on the tragedy and assure me of a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to book. He has also promised to initiate compensation for the families of the victims,” Governor Yusuf noted.
