Edo varsity awards scholarship to 100 indigent students

The Edo State University Uzairue on Monday awarded scholarships to 100 indigent students from Edo State to enable them to continue their educational pursuits at the institution.

The full scholarship covers both tuition fees and accommodation, while other awards cover only tuition fees.
Presenting the letters of award to the successful candidates, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Dawood Egbefo, stated that the scholarships are for brilliant but less privileged students of Edo State.

“These scholarships are designed to support students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance and at the same time may face financial challenges in pursuing their education,” Egbefo said.

The acting VC noted that the scholarship program, established by the institution’s founding fathers, aims to improve the lives of indigent yet brilliant students.

He congratulated the awardees for their hard work, dedication, and academic achievements. He urged them to continue excelling in their academic pursuits and advised them to justify the scholarship by maintaining high standards.

However, he cautioned against misconduct, warning that any student found wanting would have their scholarship withdrawn.

Some beneficiaries expressed delight at receiving the scholarships, noting that the support would significantly aid their education.
