EFCC, FBI recover $314,000, N373 million from Internet fraudsters


The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has said that the commission, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), has recovered $314,000 and about N373 million from Internet fraudsters.

A statement yesterday in Abuja by the EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, said Magu disclosed this through Mohammed Rabo, Lagos Zonal Head of the commission at a media briefing in Lagos.

Magu said while $314,000 had been recovered, N373 million had been traced to various commercial banks.

He also disclosed that 28 had been arrested, with 14 charged and convicted, nine undergoing trial and five still under investigations.
