High Chief Ambassador Sobomabo Jackrich, popularly known as Egberipapa, a prominent Niger Delta political activist and community leader, on Thursday night hosted the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, alongside other top national leaders of the union.

The high-level courtesy visit took place at Egberipapa’s residence in Usokun community, Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, and was aimed at strengthening cooperation among influential political and grassroots stakeholders across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing the delegation, Egberipapa declared his unwavering support, and that of his extensive grassroots network spanning all 23 local government areas of Rivers State, for the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President in 2027, as well as the second-term bid of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

He described President Tinubu as a stabilising national leader whose interventions had been crucial in navigating Rivers State through recent political tensions. According to him, the president’s “fatherly and strategic” support for Governor Fubara helped restore calm and prevented further instability in the state.

Egberipapa also highlighted the role of the president’s son, Seyi Tinubu, praising his grassroots engagement and youth-focused outreach.

“This is the first time we have seen the son of a president so genuinely close and accessible to grassroots people,” Egberipapa said. “His personal commitment and readiness to engage have strengthened public confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

The Niger Delta leader reaffirmed his readiness to work more closely with national leadership structures to consolidate grassroots mobilisation across Rivers State and the wider South-South region. He stressed that effective community-level synergy would be critical to sustaining political momentum and ensuring broad-based support for the ruling administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Reiterating his close working relationship with Governor Fubara, Egberipapa pledged to continue collaborating with the governor to deliver Rivers State “solidly, in block,” for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Rivers State is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most politically strategic states due to its population size and voter strength, a factor that has intensified efforts by pro-Tinubu stakeholders to strengthen alliances in the region.

Responding on behalf of the delegation, MC Oluomo thanked Egberipapa for the warm reception and for his declared support for President Tinubu’s re-election.

He assured the Niger Delta leader that the issues and requests raised during the meeting would be conveyed to the president and pledged a more harmonious and inclusive working relationship going forward.

The visit by MC Oluomo, widely seen as a key political figure in Lagos and a staunch supporter of the Tinubu administration, forms part of broader efforts to align transport unions, regional influencers, and national political structures ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Political observers say the meeting signals growing convergence among pro-Tinubu forces in the South-South, as preparations intensify toward 2027 and efforts continue to consolidate support for both federal and state leadership in Rivers State.
