The Atum Humanitarian Anti-Corruption and Charitable Initiative (AHACCI) has called on politicians, public office holders, and privileged Nigerians to place the welfare of citizens above personal interests, greed, and corruption as Muslims celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by its Executive Chairman, Comrade Ismaila Yusuf Atumeyi, the organisation said the lessons of Eid-el-Kabir should inspire sacrifice, compassion, accountability, and service to humanity, especially at a time when many Nigerians are facing economic hardship and insecurity.

AHACCI noted that the celebration goes beyond festivities, stressing that it serves as a reminder that societies thrive when leaders and citizens are willing to make sacrifices for the common good.

The group expressed concern over the rising cost of living and the challenges facing Nigerians, warning that public trust would continue to erode if resources meant to improve the lives of citizens were diverted through corruption and selfish interests.

It urged political leaders and business owners to use the Eid period for sober reflection and renewed commitment to transparency, justice, and responsible leadership.

According to the organisation, Nigeria cannot overcome its present hardship when sacrifice is expected from ordinary citizens while greed and corruption continue to flourish among those in positions of authority

AHACCI also called on Nigerians to extend kindness and support to vulnerable groups, including widows, orphans, internally displaced persons, persons living with disabilities, and struggling families during the festive period.

The organisation prayed for peace, unity, healing, and renewed hope for the country as Muslim faithful mark the celebration.
