In the spirit of the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North-west/Ibadan South-west federal constituency, Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Stanley Olajide, has commenced the distribution of rams, bags of rice and cash support to constituents across Oyo South Senatorial District.
The distribution exercise, which cut across the nine local government areas in the district, attracted community leaders, political stakeholders, religious groups, market men and women, youths and party supporters.
Beneficiaries described the gesture as timely, particularly amid prevailing economic challenges affecting households.
A statement issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, said the initiative was designed to support Muslim faithful and ease the burden of the festive season on vulnerable residents.
Olajide said Eid-el-Kabir symbolises sacrifice, love and compassion, stressing that leaders must continue to identify with the people, especially during periods of economic difficulty.
He explained that the distribution covered widows, the elderly, religious bodies, youth groups, artisans, market associations and party faithful across the senatorial district.
“As we celebrate this sacred season of sacrifice and gratitude, it is important for us to continue to support one another and extend love to the less privileged within our communities. Leadership must remain about the people and their well-being,” he said.
The lawmaker called on Nigerians to continue to pray for peace, stability and economic recovery in the country, expressing optimism that current challenges would be overcome through collective efforts and responsible leadership.
Stakeholders and beneficiaries commended the gesture, describing Olajide’s intervention as consistent and grassroots-driven, noting that he had continued to sustain empowerment initiatives, educational support and youth development programmes beyond election periods.
They prayed for continued strength and wisdom for the lawmaker in his service to the people of Oyo South Senatorial District.
