‘Your Allegations Are Frivolous, Flimsy’— Party

The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, has alleged that the leadership of Ekiti All Progressives Congress (APC) loyal to Governor Kayode Fayemi has hijacked forms for elective positions, ahead of next Saturday’s ward congress.

Ojudu, who spoke in Ado-Ekiti, yesterday, said this development was aimed at depriving other party members, who were not loyal to Fayemi’s ‘Tokan Tokan’ group from contesting in the ward congress.

Ojudu alleged forms were seized from the Ward Congress Committee sent from the National Secretariat to the state on Friday, adding that the committee returned to Abuja without performing their duty of making the forms available to interested party members.

Ojudu said: “Their mandate was to stay and sell the form to interested party members. Governors came to Abuja to demand for form, but the committee refused to oblige. They invited party chairmen and briefed them on the need to allow interested party members have access to the form.

“When they arrived Ado-Ekiti from Abuja, yesterday (Friday), they went straight to the party secretariat, negotiated with the chairman, got paid and handed over the forms to him and returned immediately to Abuja. ..”

However, in his reaction, the party Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ade Ajayi, denied all allegations raised by Ojudu, describing it as, “frivolous and flimsy.”

Ajayi maintained that those raising alarm over next Saturday’s congress were “strangers, who have no idea of the workings within the party.”

He assured that everyone would be given a level-playing ground, and the Congress Committee set up by the state was working with stakeholders to ensure a free, fair and transparent congress that would usher new leaders at the ward level.
