Ekiti Assembly gets new Speaker as Oyebanji inaugurates House

The lawmaker representing Ikole Constituency II in the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Stephen Aribasoye, has emerged as the Speaker of the seventh House.

Aribasoye, who was nominated by Femi Akindele representing Irepodun Ifelodun Constituncy 1 and seconded by Lateef Akanle of Ekiti East Constituency II, was unanimously supported by other members of the House during the maiden plenary, held at the Assembly Chamber, Ado-Ekiti.

Also, the lawmaker representing Ado Constituency II, Bolaji Olagbaju, who is the daughter of the immediate former Deputy Governor of the state, the late Bisi Egbeyemi, was unanimously elected as Deputy Speaker of the House.

Other nominated members include Tolulope Michael Ige as the Majority Leader, while Oladele Ogunsakin from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who represents Ekiti East Constituency I, emerged as Minority Leader.

In his acceptance speech, Aribasoye promised not to betray the trust reposed in him by his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the lawmakers.

The new Speaker, who pledged to collaborate with other arms of government to ensure speedy development of Ekiti State, sought the support of his colleagues and other stakeholders in the task of legislating for the good of the state.
