The Ado Ekiti State Police Command has pledged to do everything possible to arrest the killers of Bunmi Ojo, ex-aide to former governor Segun Oni. The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Caleb Ikechukwu, gave the commitment yesterday. He said no suspect has been arrested since the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain was murdered last Friday.

Unknown gunmen killed the late Ojo, who was a commissioner on the Board of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) in Ado Ekiti. The gunmen reportedly shot him in the head and stomach, when they invaded a viewing centre in Adebayo area of Ado Ekiti.

It was learnt that his body had been deposited in the morgue at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) in Ado-Ekiti. The police spokesman disclosed that some surveillance policemen have been deployed to arrest the murderers. He said: “We are determined to ensure that the killers are brought to justice. We are gathering tips and working on all possibilities to ensure that these evildoers are made to face the wrath of the law.

“We have sent our men to comb everywhere. Our men in plain cloth, who are out to unravel the killers are combing every corner. This includes those areas identified to be criminal hideouts. We are confident that the killers will be arrested soon.”

Meanwhile, one of the deceased’s family members had revealed that Ojo’s killers seized his three mobile telephone sets before raining bullets on him.The family member who did not want his name mentioned said the killers also collected his car key, which they later dropped. He explained: “When they stormed the viewing centre, they shot into the air to disperse the viewers,” before the shooting. They wanted to cause distraction and make the murder to look like a robbery, he said.
