El-Rufai, Okowa, Nnamani, others condole with Makarfi over father’s death

Governors Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State and Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta together with former Governor Chimaroke Nnamani and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin, have condoled with former governor of Kaduna, Ahmed Makarfi, over the death his father, Muhammad Makarfi.

Others who visited the residence of the former governor in Makarfi Council to mourn with him were PDP chieftains and legislators in the national and state assemblies.

Pa Makarfi, who was the Majindadi Zazzau, a traditional title in the Zaria Emirate Council, passed on Tuesday in Makarfi town, Makarfi Council at age 99. Among the early callers on the former governor to pay their condolences at Makarfi town was the Kaduna deputy governor, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, who represented the governor.

El-Rufai, through the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, stated that the deceased was a statesman with sterling qualities who championed the cause of peace as a traditional ruler. Okowa, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu, in Asaba, was comforted by the deceased’s good deeds while alive.

“We received the news of the demise of your beloved father with shock, but we are consoled that he lived a life of dedicated service to humanity.”Nnamani, who represents Enugu East in the Senate, described Pa Makarfi as a good man, who nurtured his children to be patriotic and responsible citizens, noting that he would be remembered for his benevolence as well as the peace and unity he promoted in his domain during his lifetime. He prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the loss.
