The Kano emirship tussle took a fresh dimension on Friday as the 16th Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II and Aminu Ado Bayero, who is laying claim to the stool, separately appointed new Galadiman Kano.
The appointment of two Galadiman Kano after the demise of Alhaji Abba Sanusi, is the first time in the history of the Fulani emirate, further widening the lingering emirship crisis.
At the ancient Kofar Kudu palace, Sanusi officially decorated Alhaji Munir Sanusi Bayero as new Galadima alongside four other senior traditional councillors.
Sanusi also decorated his son, Adam Lamido Sanusi as Tafidan Kano, Alhaji Kabir Tijjani Hashim Wamban Kano as Turakin Καnο, Alhaji Mahmud Ado Bayero as Turakin Kano and Alhaji Ahmad Abbas Sanusi as Yariman Καnο.
Speaking during the decoration, Sanusi enjoined the newly upgraded traditional title holders to remain exemplary leaders and demonstrate loyalty to the emirate as well as compassion to the common man.
“You have been chosen based on your track records and that of your families. Most of you have shown and demonstrated loyalty to the emirate and our lineage, the people and the state in general.
“We are already aware of what you have been doing. You have been on the saddle to help the poor and are contributing immensely to the betterment of the society. I urge you all to keep it up and ensure that you borrow a leaf from your fathers. May God help you all in discharging your duties,” he said.
The turbaning was witnessed by the State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, other members of the state Executive Council, traditional and religious leaders, family and friends, among many others.
At the separate coronation held at the Nassarawa mini palace, Bayero turbaned Alhaji Sunusi Lamido Ado Bayero as the new Galadiman Kano in the presence of friends and well wishers.
