Igbo-Eze people predict victory for PDP over Ugwuanyi’s performance

Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), yesterday, said it is committed to a flawless electoral process, assuring that it will do all in its power to ensure free, fair and credible local council election in the state on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

Chairman of ENSIEC, Dr. Mike Ajogwu, also ruled out the use of the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) during the election, saying the commission would wait until it was fully deployed by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking during day one of the trainings for senior management staff, electoral and assistant electoral officers of the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) on election administration, in Enugu, Ajogwu, stated that the sustenance of democracy rested squarely on the credibility of the electoral process.

He stated that the two days training, being sponsored by the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) would improve efforts towards ensuring that the electoral process remained free and fair, adding that it will afford participants the opportunity to learn and train others.

BESIDES, the people of Igbo-Eze South and Igbo-Eze North councils of the state have assured Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidates of victory in the election due to the governor’s performance and exemplary leadership in Enugu State.

Speaking at the Igbo-Eze South rally, representative Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency, Hon. Pat Asadu told Ugwuanyi to relax after the campaign, saying: “We will deliver 100 per cent victory for PDP.” 

He commended the emergence of Hon. Vitus Okechi as the PDP chairmanship candidate in Igbo-Eze South Council, stresses that his candidature is a popular choice and devoid of rancour.

On his part, representative of Igbo-Eze South Constituency in the state House of Assembly, Hon. Emeka Madu, commended Ugwuanyi for the commencement of work on the Iheaka-Alor Agu Road and other development projects in the council.

He expressed delight that the projects would ensure rapid development of the rural areas and positively impact the lives of the residents, stressing that such infrastructure, education projects, as well as the healthcare facilities and human empowerment perogrammes would enhance the livelihoods of the rural populace.
