The Enugu State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal on Thursday dismissed the petition of Chris Agu of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) against Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Agu had alleged that Mbah forged his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate, was not qualified to run for the election, and was corrupt.

The tribunal, chaired by Justice Kudirat Murayo Akano, held that the petitioner failed to prove any of his allegations that Mba did not possess the minimum requirement to stand for election which is a school certificate or its equivalent.

The judge said there was no evidence to support the claim that Mbah was not qualified to stand for the election.
On the issue of the NYSC certificate, the tribunal held that the petitioner failed to provide the original certificate or the forged one.

The tribunal also dismissed the allegation of corruption, holding that the petitioner failed to provide evidence to support his claim.

The tribunal also held that Mbah was elected by the majority of votes cast.

The panel noted that witnesses called by the petitioners could not specify the polling units where the elections were not held nor the results of the same.
