Ex-militants vow to expose sponsors of new Niger Delta Avengers

Niger Delta Avengers

The Third Phase ex-militants under Federal Government Amnesty Programme have vowed to expose those behind a group they described as faceless Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA).

In a statement issued yesterday by its National Leader, Tonye Bobo and Secretary, Karo Edor, the group said it would reveal the true identity of those behind the RNDA if its promoters do not stop their double standards.

It noted that the RNDA and its sponsors have taken it upon themselves to antagonise and disrupt the progress and development of the region.

The former agitators, therefore, challenged the RNDA to an intellectual debate on any platform on issues concerning the Niger Delta region, if really they were genuine freedom fighters.

They warned that if the RNDA does not desist from their blackmail and pull down syndrome that have characterised the region’s genuine struggles, they would not hesitate to expose those behind it.

While reacting to a publication by the RNDA in a national daily, it condemned its position on a recent peaceful protest in Port Harcourt by the Third Phase ex-agitators, insisting that it would expose its sponsors in the public and private sectors.

The group explained that the protest was not targeted at the Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Professor Nelson Brambaifa, but to draw the commission’s attention to their plight and carry the youths along in the scheme of things.

“Leadership of the Third Phase would have not bothered to reply to the faceless and un-coordinated RNDA, but it is disheartening to note that they are only newspaper tigers and their units’ commanders do not exist anywhere in the region.”

“Leader of RNDA, one Major General Ezonebi, aka Obama, is not a known agitator in the Niger Delta region, but only claimed to be a general on the pages of newspapers to get a meal ticket from his disgruntled sponsors.

“It is also not surprising that RNDA’s machination is to frustrate the efforts of genuine agitators and those who have good intentions for the youths, rather than for their selfish interests.

“We wish to state that Brambaifa is a man of integrity and visionary leader, but people round him are sabotaging his good intentions for the Niger Delta region,” the statement added.
