Experts to discuss COVID-19 impact on financial inclusion

Stakeholders in the insurance and pension sectors have revealed plans to address the impact of COVID-19 on financial inclusion at the 2021 edition of the yearly conference of the National Association of Insurance and Pension.

Stakeholders in the insurance and pension sectors have revealed plans to address the impact of COVID-19 on financial inclusion at the 2021 edition of the yearly conference of the National Association of Insurance and Pension.

The conference, which is scheduled to hold on October 14, 2021, according to the Chairman of the association, Chuks Udo Okonta, will examine impacts of COVID-19 on the entire economy as well as the financial service sector.

Udo said the pandemic has led to disruption of the entire financial space of which insurance and pension play critical roles. To this end, he said, experts in the sectors, as well as the financial service sector, have been invited to deliberate on the theme extensively.

To make the event live up to expectations, the former Director-General, the Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC), Folashade Onanuga will give the keynote while the pioneer Director-General, National Pension Commission (PenCom) and Chairman, Polaris Bank Limited, Ahmad Muhammed; the Commissioner for Insurance/CEO, the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Mr. Sunday Thomas; the Director-General, National Pension Commission (PenCom), Aisha Dahir-Umar are special guests. The event will be chaired by the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Prestige Insurance Brokers Limited, Prince Feyisayo Soyewo.
