Faction alleges sponsored pensioners protests in Osun

A faction among pensioners in Osun State has alleged that a rival group is planning to hold “opposition-sponsored” protest across the state to discredit the government.

Chairman of the factional Triangular Group of Pensioners, Mr. Rotimi Adelugba, made the allegation in a statement issued in Osogbo yesterday.“We have impeccable information that some pensioners in the forum of 2011/2012 retirees in the state have concluded arrangements to organize a state-wide protest across Osun tomorrow orchestrated by the opposition party to malign the government.

“The process, plans and methods of the planned simultaneous rallies were hatched at several meetings called by the opposition party to discredit the government that it had not fulfilled its obligations to us in the prompt payment of our pensions and gratuities.”

Adelugba dissociated his group from the planned protests. “Our members all over the state are advised not to join them. The rank and file of the 2011/2012 pensioners have been infiltrated. They are not serving our interests.”
