… Assures affected constituents of relief materials

The senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District has assured residents of the district affected by the recent flooding of support and commitment to securing both immediate relief and long-term solutions.

The Senator, who sympathized with the affected residents, described the situation as unfortunate, called on the Ondo State Government and Emergency Management Authority (SEMA) to intensify intervention efforts, emphasising that the flooding has become a recurring challenge during rainy seasons.

Faduyile, accompanied by local government officials, toured several communities including Aja Akineyin/Ijokodo off Cele bus stop along Ikoya Road, Sedara Street, Off Omowa area, Lagos garage, Yeewa area along The General Hospital Road, Agbala Iyantan, and Agbala Lijofi, where the destructive impact of the flooding was visibly evident in submerged homes and damaged property.

The heavy downpours over the past few days have thrown Okitipupa and its environs into a pool of flood, wreaking havoc on homes and property and leaving residents in distress.

Addressing residents of Aja Akineyin/Ijokodo, the Senator Faduyile disclosed that he had already reached out to the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government Andrew Ogunsakin, for consultation.

Faduyile revealed that SEMA had been briefed and would extend relief items to the affected areas, adding that the challenge caused by the flood would receive the attention of the Senate at plenary when the upper chamber resumes from its recess in September.

He said, “I have come to identify with you, to sympathize with you and to let you know that you are not in this alone. I will collaborate with the State Emergency Management Authority to provide necessary relief materials.”

The Senator said he would consider road construction in the area as part of his 2027 constituency projects, stressing that good road network and proper channelization would reduce the threat of flooding.

Omotola Emaye, whose house was flooded stated that “I appreciate you for coming round to see for yourself the effect of the flood in our area. We had to run away from our houses when severe water turned us victims in our comfort zone. We will appreciate your assistance, Distinguished Senator.”

Secretary of Okitipupa Local Government, Femi Oladokun, who took Faduyile round the areas affected by the flood, assured the people of the Senator’s commitment to their welfare.
