Leaders must learn from late jurist’s virtues, says Yusuf Ali
Chairman of the Governing Council of Osun State University, Mr. Yusuf Ali, yesterday, urged Nigeria’s current leaders to emulate the virtues of honesty, incorruptibility and empathy exhibited by the late Justice Bolarinwa Babalakin.
He stated this during the Fidau prayers for the deceased, held at Gbongan, Osun State.
Ali, who spoke on the sidelines of the event, said: “Baba was a mentor, role model and all the excellent things you can look for in an elderly person. He took all of us as his children. So, there is no sacrifice that is too much in honour of Baba to make today’s Fidau very successful.
“Baba represented the best in human character. He was honest, upright, time conscious, God-conscious, a humanist and a lover of others. He was a patriot par excellence.”
He added: “Nigerian leaders should take the story of his life and assimilate, and live their lives the way Baba lived his, and the country will be better.”
Chairman of Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, Mr. Wale Babalakin, on behalf of the family, thanked the Federal Government, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and others for paying condolence visits to the family.
The event was attended by eminent Nigerians, including Governors Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Gboyega Oyetola (Osun), and Duoye Diri (Bayelsa).
