Ekiti State Government yesterday said the balance of N3.9 billion received from the Federal Government as the last tranche of its Paris Club refund would be used to pay workers’ salary arrears.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, the Paris Club refund was received following President Muhammadu Buhari’s intervention in the matter after Governor Kayode Fayemi’s last week visit to the President.

Consequently, the governor has directed that the N3.9 billion Paris Club refund be applied to pay one month outstanding salary arrears to state and local council workers, teachers and pensioners in line with his promise to Ekiti State workers and people.

He said that this would be done with an augmentation from internal savings.
