FC Bayern Youth Cup contest kicks off Saturday


Maiden edition of the FC Bayern Youth Cup Tournament will kick off in Abuja according to its official partner, StarTimes Nigeria.

The competition, an U-16 tournament is for boys born between January 1, 2002 and December 31, 2003. Late last year, the firm disclosed that the competition was in partnership with VOE Foundation to bring FC Bayern Youth Cup to Nigeria.

According to its Brand and Marketing Director, Mr. Qasim Elegbede, the national qualifiers will hold in eight locations across the nation that include Kano, Jos, Kaduna, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland and the Federal Capital Territory-Abuja.


“The national qualifiers will officially commence on January 13 in Abuja. We are working with VOE Foundation, the national event host and all is set for the competition to kick off on Saturday,” he added.

The FC Bayern Youth Cup is an international 7v7 tournament series for U-16 teams representing different countries and has been hosted yearly since 2012.

The competition has seen teams from Asia, Europe, North and South America. Nigeria will be the first African team to take part and host the competition.
