The Conference of Alumni Association of Nigerian Universities (CAANU) has called on the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to reconsider the ongoing nationwide strike in the interest of university education.

The National Chairman of CAANU, Dr. Ahmed Tijjani Mora said the group was of the opinion that a nationwide strike at this time when universities were just resuming would not be in the best interest of the nation.

Mora, who is also the National President of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Alumni Association maintained: “with the strike, it is the parents and or guardians as well as the students in our universities that would suffer, most especially as many students have already reported in their respective universities and have registered for the 2016/2017 academic session.”
