The Federal Government has commissioned a multi-million naira flood control project in Tulu-Tama, Toro Local Council of Bauchi State. While handing over the completed project, Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Ambassador Maryam Katagum, said the project was part of the Federal Government’s effort towards tackling environmental challenges in the country.

Katagum, who represented President Muhammadu Buhari, said that the present administration would continue to implement the projects it had started for a prosperous nation.She said that the implementation of the project was part of the Buhari’s promise of ensuring that no part of the country suffers any neglect.

Also, Governor Bala Mohammed said the project would save many lives and address devastating effect of flooding.The governor, who was represented by the state’s Commissioner for Environment and Housing, Hamisu Muazu Shira, expressed gratitude to the President for the execution of the project.

“The Bauchi State Ministry of Environment is currently compiling a list of all the areas affected by flood with a view to seek the support of the Federal Government,” she said.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ecological Fund, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Hajiya Habiba Lawal, said: “The timely completion of this project was made possible through the efforts of the project contractor and the consultant who had worked tirelessly to ensure minimum loss of time in the project implementation.
