Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has said current critical capital projects attracted from the Federal Government will soon transform Kano into another nerve centre in West Africa.

Ganduje, who made the remark, yesterday, when he flagged off the 83 kilometres Kano-Gwarzo-Dayi Federal highway at DanSudu village in Tofa Council, Kano.

He described the presence of the Federal Government critical projects in Kano, especially in the area of transportation clearly demonstrated the genuine interest of President Muhammadu Buhari in Kano.

Ganduje cited over N500 billion Lagos-Kano rail line, Abuja-Kaduna-Kano rail line, as well as Kano-Maridi rail projects as a credible indication of the Federal Government giant stride in Kano.

The governor reiterated that President Muhammadu Buhari has opened another vista of economic viability in the aviation sector with the state-of-the-art facilities installed at the new international wing of Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.

He added that Kano will soon play host to Emirate and other international airlines when the wing resumes full operations in the state.

The Governor noted that the tremendous improvement in the area of security architecture in the state has motivated business opportunities into Kano, which is fast becoming a megacity.

While applauding Senator representing Kano North for doggedness and commitment in attracting the Federal Government project to the area, Ganduje pledged to ensure quick payment of compensation to farm owners and other liability owning the right of ways on the project.

He said: “This highway, Rimingado-Kabo-Gwarzo-Dayi of Katsina, is one of the major road linking Kano to many parts of the country. It links us with Katsina State. And even those coming to the state from Sokoto and Kebbi states use this road. Not only that, but even those coming from the Niger Republic also use this road.

“Looking at the good presence of the Federal Government projects in Kano tells you how concerned the President is for our great state. With these projects, Kano will bounce back and take the frontline stage in the scheme of things.

“Western Bypass is another Federal project. Lagos-Ibadan-Abuja-Abuja-Kano standard gauge rail line, Kano-Dambatta-Kazaure-Daura-Katsina-Jibiya-Maradi standard gauge rail line and extension of Kano-Dutse standard gauge rail line are all Federal Government projects, this shows how committed President Buhari is for our development.”

While listing among other projects, the Ajaokuta-Kauna-Kano Gas project, Ganduje declared that ” all these projects are a very clear indication that, Kano is dearly loved by the President.”

On his part, Senator Barau Jibril said the N62.7 billion road project will further boost economic development while curtailing the security threat on the already damaged road network.

Barau applauded the president and the Ministry of Works and Housing for approving the capital project in Kano.
