FG donates school items, others to Adamawa IDPs

The Federal Government has donated relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Adamawa.

Speaking during the ceremony at the Malkohi camp in Yola, the Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouqq, disclosed that 25 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have benefited from government’s gesture of providing assistance to victims of insurgency and natural disasters.

The NCFRMI boss, represented by the Director of Refugees and Migrants Affairs, Alhaji Lawal Hamidu, said the commission’s mandate is to provide protection and assistance for victims of insurgency and natural disasters.

Director Rescue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Mohammed Aminu Suleiman, said the Malkohi IDPs camp was established in November 2014, with over 5,000 IDPs, but that about 1,600 are now in camp.
