FG moves to check incessant strikes in health, education sectors
The Federal Government has taken steps to check the frequent strikes by workers in the nation’s health and educational sectors with recent remuneration surveys in both private health institutions and universities across the federation.
The government has also begun the collation of updated statistics of health professionals employed in federal hospitals, medical centres and clinics in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
The studies, conducted by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), were to find out what the private health and universities was paying their workers with a view to implementing same in public institutions to ensure industrial harmony.
Chairman of the commission, Ekpo Nta, who disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja, yesterday, said the second phase of the project would cover private polytechnics and colleges of education.
