The Federal Government has ordered that movements around Eagle Square in Abuja will be restricted from Friday to Tuesday ahead of the inauguration of President-elect Bola Tinubu.

The inauguration parade for Tinubu and his vice-president-elect, Kashim Shettima, will take place on Monday, May 29 at Eagle Square. In the weeks leading up to the inauguration ceremony, various branches of the military have been conducting drills.

A permanent secretary at the Head of the Civil Service, Ngozi Onwudiwe, announced in a circular on Friday that the federal government has restricted movement around Eagle Square.

Onwudiwe said the Federal Secretariat Complexes Phases I, II, and III and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be blocked off by security operatives ahead of the swearing-in ceremony.

She noted that the restriction will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 26 and last until Monday, May 29. adding that officers and intending visitors to the affected areas will not be allowed access until Tuesday, May 30.

“Accordingly, officers and intending visitors to the affected areas will not be allowed access till Tuesday, 30th May 2023, when work will resume in earnest,” Onwudiwe stated.
