FG sets up think tank on poverty alleviation, humanitarian response

To drive it's poverty alleviation and humanitarian response agenda, the federal government has set up a 13-man think tank charged with restructuring the Social Safety Net Programme (SSNP) to address the expanded mandate of the federal ministry of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation.

To drive it’s poverty alleviation and humanitarian response agenda, the federal government has set up a 13-man think tank charged with restructuring the Social Safety Net Programme (SSNP) to address the expanded mandate of the federal ministry of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation.

Announcing the appointment yesterday, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, said the setting up of the think tank is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s objective to restructure the system, as it is essential for effective and quick realization of goals and objectives.

She tasked the new appointees to “bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new offices as there will be no room for excuses or failure, in the actualisation of the ‘Renewed Hope’ mandate and in moving Nigeria forward.”

The team consists of Abdulaziz Danladii as National Coordinator of the National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office, (NASSCO), Dr Micheal Ajuluchukwu, National Cash Transfer Office, (NCTO), Head of office, Dr Janet Ekpenyong, NCTO Deputy Head of Office and Richard Romanus as the National Programme Manager,Youth Empowerment and Social Support Operations, (YESSO).

Others are Jamalu kaburu who is to serve as National Communication manager, National Social Investment Program, (NSIP), Chidinma Makuachukwu is to serve as the National Programme Manager, Renewed Hope Shelter Programme for Refugees ,Poor and Internally Displaced Persons, Thalis Apalowo is the National Programme manager, Grant For Vulnerable groups, Hajia Salia Sanusi Yusuff, Programme Manager ,At Risk Children Programme while Mrs Obande I’d the National Programme Manager, National Home Grown School feeding Programme (Renewed Hope Home Grown School feeding and End Hunger programme) and Joseph Nkang as the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (Renewed Hope MSME Loan Programme).

Also on the list, Dr Akindele Adekunle Egbuwalo serves as Programme manager
N-Power Programme (Renewed Hope Skills Acquisition Programme, Dr Mrs Etcheri Ansa, Renewed Hope IDP Refugees out of school Programme (National Alternate school Programme ) and Olubunmi Bello completes the list as National Project Manager, Community and Social Development Programme.

The minister remains Chairman, National Social Safety Net Coordinating Office, (NASSCO), management team while the Secretary NASSCO management team is the permanent secretary, of the ministry, Abel Enitan

The appointed persons will join her team in implementing President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at providing succour to those affected by humanitarian crises and eradicate multi-dimensional poverty In Nigeria, a statement signed by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Rasheed Zubair, contains.

The appointments take immediate effect.
