Fire guts RCCG church in Ketu


A parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) at Alapere, Lagos, has been gutted by fire.

A video shared on social media on Sunday showed the church in flames, with several cars. Worshippers were also allegedly trapped within.


Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed the incident.

Lagos State police spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, a Chief Superintendent of Police confirmed the incident.

He said: “Today being May 9, 2021, at around 06:15 am, the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos Province 28 headquarters, Lagos Expressway, after China Town was on fire.

“The DPO Ogudu, who raced to the scene, alerted the Lagos State Fire Service and the fire was put out. No life was lost to the inferno. Only the property was destroyed. The cause of fire is yet unknown. The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered the DPO to move policemen to the scene to avoid any looting and the Lagos State Fire Service to commence investigation into the incident.”
