Former Jigawa Governor, Ibrahim Aliyu, passes on
A former military governor of Jigawa State, Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Aliyu (rtd), is dead. He died on Friday in Kaduna. The Jigawa State government disclosed this in a press statement by the Special Adviser (Media and Public Relations) to the governor, Habibu Nuhu Kila.
Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru, described Aliyu’s death as a great loss to the people and the state government. He added that the former administrator served humanity while alive.
“The governor prayed to the Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest and give his family and people of Jigawa State the fortitude to bear the loss,” the statement read.
He was the state military administrator from December 9, 1993 to August 22, 1996, under the regime of General Sani Abacha. A few days back, Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, commissioned a road named after him in recognition of his contributions to the state.
