Forum urges Tinubu to intervene in military pension board rifts

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

THE Security and Public Affairs Analysts Forum (SPAF) has demanded reciprocity from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in addressing alleged hurdles preventing Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris as chairman of the Military Pensions Board since his appointment.

The forum said having supported the President in the emergence of former Lagos State Governor, Raji Tunde Fashola as well as his elections as president in 2023, it feels President Tinubu should reciprocate the gesture by directing an investigation that will unravel the current situation where presidential directives are ignored without consequences .

In a statement issued by the head of investigation, Olasunjanmi Olayinkan, the forum emphasized that presidential directives as sacrosanct and can only be reversed by judicial pronouncements, stressing that violations constitutes direct affronts and demeans that exalted office of a President, and paves the way for lawlessness, impunity and chaos.

The statement said: “We want to appreciate your various transformation from the Tax reforms to actions on tackling the activities of non-state actors and we believe that your patriotism and commitment to nation building has made it possible .

“Our group issued a press statement regarding the deprivation of one of your appointees who was appointed on the 4th of December 2025 in person of Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu to access his office at the Military Pensions Board.

“We took the step as a group that supported your election in 2023 because our relationship with you commenced in 2007 when we supported your successor, Raji Tunde Fashola against other candidates to emerge as Governor.

“Now that you are in charge of the country, we believe we should also support the success of your administration and we see the action of the Military Pension Board as an affront to your constitutional powers and authority .

The forum said the decision to prevent an appointee from functioning in his capacity without a contrary communication by the president of a country and without any cogent reason should not be accepted .

“We want you to wade into this matter to ensure the prompt resumption of your appointee along side others.”
