In a bid to promote youth empowerment and sustainable development, the Erommaose Nwokoro Foundation has hosted its 3rd annual graduation ceremony in Agbor, Delta State, bringing hope and opportunities to young people across the community.
The event, spotlighted entrepreneurship as a vital pathway to economic freedom, self-reliance, and national development.
Convener of the initiative, Amb. Dr. Bernardette Eromma Nwokoro, pledged her commitment to social impact, which continues to transform the lives of youths in the region through structured skill acquisition and empowerment programmes.
In attendance was the Eka Dein Menim of Agbor Kingdom, Chief Wilson Oni Agbobu. The event had an engaging entrepreneurial session moderated by Dr. Anthony Nnamudi featuring a panel of experts, including Hon. Dr Donald Peterson, Dr Jude Igborgbor, Dr Ngozi Mordi, Dr Solomon Egbule and Dr Friday Memeh. The panelists provided practical insights into real-world entrepreneurial challenges such as access to funding, market dynamics, resilience, and business scalability.
Speakers emphasised the urgency for Nigerian youths to reposition themselves in response to the country’s economic realities, highlighting innovation, adaptability, and skill development as key drivers of success.
The Foundation’s training programmes span various vocational skills, including hair styling, dressmaking, cake making, decoration, gele tying, and beauty services. Participants undergo hands-on training designed to equip them with income-generating capabilities.
Beyond training, beneficiaries also receive starter packs and seed capital to establish their businesses.
Dr. Nwokoro reiterated the Foundation’s philosophy of going beyond traditional charity. She noted that the goal is to empower individuals to become self-reliant and economically independent.
The Foundation also maintains a post-training support system, providing mentorship and tracking the progress of graduates, many of whom have gone on to build successful ventures.
Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Peterson, spoke on “Entrepreneurial Opportunities, Challenges and Growth in Ika Nation,” underscoring the importance of strategic partnerships in advancing youth development.
