It was, indeed, a day marked out for the celebration of excellence, as the Goddy Jidenma Foundation recently presented the Award of Excellence to the 2018 Valedictorian class of Birch Freeman High School in Lagos.

Goddy Jidenma Foundation, a reputable NGO well-recognized for its laudable efforts in promoting and encouraging excellence among students, instituted this prize of excellence in memory of Arc Goddy Jidenma, to spur hard work and academic excellence.

The award of excellence since its institution in Birch Freeman High School in November 2014, has yearly presented students who emerged the best in WASSCE with monetary awards.

The event for this year had students from the various classes of the Senior Secondary section gathered in an assembly at 11:25am and started with a welcome address by the Vice Principal Mrs Adediran Olapade. The representative of Goddy Jidenma Foundation, the Program Executive, Ms Uchenna Ozugha, addressed the students on the various ways to reach the zenith of academic success of which hard work is paramount. At the end of her speech, the winner of the award of excellence for 2018, Master Mustapha Ibrahim, was presented with the award.

Filled with joy, the father of the award-winner, Mr. Jamiu Ibrahim, expressed his gratitude to the Foundation for honouring his son with such an award. The Principal of the school, Mrs Oluwakemi Oke, further thanked the foundation for establishing and sustaining such a landmark scheme that encourages and motivates the students to strive for excellence and do their  best so as to be recipients of the award.
