Girl education in focus as NBM holds South South summit

Neo Black Movement (NBM) of Africa Worldwide has organised its South South Regional Summit with the theme, “Education for the Girl Child and Exterminating Mathematics Phobia in Our Schools.”

Held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, the dignitaries presented prizes to brilliant pupils at the event.

Guest speakers, who made presentations, included Special Adviser to Abia State Governor on Health Matters, Dr. (Mrs.) Chinyere Precious and a consultant/ Executive Member of Mathematics Society of Nigeria, Dr. (Mrs.) Rafiat Bada Abubakar.

Abubakar spoke on “Exterminating Mathematics Phobia in our Schools,” while Precious addressed “The Role of Public-Private Partnership in Building Society.”

Pupils went home with assorted gifts at the contest, organised by NBM’s South South Regional President, E. Oyibo, Secretary, Chief David Nkanga and others.

A statement by the organisation said the pan-African group was positively contributing to the growth of the educational system by sponsorship programmes and events beneficial to pupils.

The regional chapter pledged to do more in the future.
