The Delta State Government has disclosed that the Federal Government has approved the establishment of a Court of Appeal in the state.

The Delta State Government has disclosed that the Federal Government has approved the establishment of a Court of Appeal in the state.

Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, announced this yesterday while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state’s Executive Council meeting in Asaba.

He said the state government had approved residential apartments for judges that would serve in the court approved by the Judiciary, adding that it was a precondition for approving the court in the state.

“We are fortunate to be one of the states that got approval for a Court of Appeal division because before now we usually go to Court of Appeal in Benin. And for the Court to take off, we have to ensure that we assist them by providing residential accommodation for the judges.

The centre located at Mariam Babangida Way will serve as the court’s official quarters. So, for that purpose, the centre is being restructured,” he added.

He also disclosed that the council also approved the construction of 3.1-kilometre access road from Niger Cat junction along DSC/NPA Expressway in Uvwie Council Area to enable motorists to travel safely from the trailer park being built by government, among other road projects.
