The Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) has described the recent nationwide #Endbadgovernance protest as a wake-up call

The Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) has described the recent nationwide #Endbadgovernance protest as a wake-up call on leaders in the region to live up to their responsibility and address the plights of the people in the face of economic and social ills.

Chairman of the forum, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, in an opening address, yesterday, during the meeting of the governors in Kaduna, warned that “youth restiveness is a growing concern, driven by illiteracy, poverty, and lack of economic opportunities.”

According to him, “Our young people are calling out for change, and it is our responsibility to listen and act. We must scale up efforts to tackle the root causes of youth restiveness by investing in education, skills development, and job creation. Let us focus on creating pathways for the youth to channel their energy into productive ventures, thereby reducing their vulnerability to crime and social vices.”

Yahaya, who doubles as Gombe State governor, insisted: “The recent #EndBadGovernance protests that took place in August serve as a wake-up call to all northern leaders to ensure that the social, welfare and economic problems of the citizens are given utmost priority.”

The governors equally met with the traditional rulers to address the blackout in the region, following the outage which has persisted for days.

A statement issued by the Director General (Press Affairs) to Governor Yahaya, Ismaila Uba Misilli, said the joint was “focused on charting a unified agenda to enhance regional cooperation and development, leveraging the North’s resources to promote long-term development.”
