Group commends Abia government over tax waiver policy for traders ravaged by flood
A Rights group, Foundation for Environmental Rights Advocacy and Development (FENRAD) has commended the Abia State Government for its tax waiver policy for traders ravaged by recent floods in the state.
According to a statement issued at the weekend by the Chief Executive Officer of the body, Nelson Nwafor, the approval by the state governor, Dr. Okezie Ipkeazu, especially in the 47-year-old Ariaria International Market, Aba, is to offer relief, sympathy and solidarity to traders affected by the flood disaster.
The group also expressed gratitude over the ongoing remodelling of the market embarked upon by the state government, urging speedy completion of the project.
FENRAD noted that after its assessment tour of the three blocks on A -Line of the project, it concluded that the indigenous developers, Blessed Henken International Company, is slow in its execution of the job, adding that they are undertaking high-quality work, which is capable of “delivering modern market infrastructure to traders in the market.”
